About
My name is Mia Wexford, and I am an Australian IT security specialist with a strong focus on VPN development, online privacy, and secure network architecture. My professional foundation began at the University of Technology Sydney (UTS), where I completed my degree in Information Technology. My time at UTS shaped my technical discipline and introduced me to the core principles of cybersecurity, encryption, and network systems—knowledge that still informs my work today.
Beyond formal study, my expertise comes from more than fifteen years of hands-on experience across Australia’s IT security landscape.
From 2008 to 2012, I worked as a Network Administrator and Security Analyst at a major Australian telecommunications company. This role gave me direct insight into ISP infrastructure, data collection processes, and the practical implementation of large-scale network security measures.
Between 2012 and 2016, I shifted into IT Security Consulting, supporting small and medium-sized businesses across Melbourne. During these years, I conducted vulnerability assessments, deployed security solutions, and helped staff understand essential cybersecurity practices. This period strengthened my ability to translate complex security concepts into actionable guidance for non-technical clients.
Since 2016, I have worked as an Independent Security Consultant and Educator specialising in VPN technologies and privacy-focused solutions for individuals, families, and small organisations. My work includes one-on-one consultations, home network audits, development of secure browsing strategies, and continuous research into emerging threats and protective technologies. I also create educational materials designed to make digital security more accessible to everyday Australian users.
In parallel, I have been active in Australia’s privacy advocacy space. I have participated in public consultations concerning data retention laws, contributed to cybersecurity forums, and collaborated with privacy-oriented organisations to promote digital rights, transparency, and responsible data governance.
Today, based in Australia, I continue to develop and advise on VPN technologies that prioritise strong encryption, user autonomy, and protection against evolving cyber risks. My mission remains consistent: to empower people with the tools and knowledge they need to navigate the internet with confidence, security, and genuine privacy.
